Help your little ones stay on track with this 8 week program designed especially for children in Kindergarten and Year One.

Bookings Are Now Open

We have tutors available now to work with your child before the end of the year (with the option to continue beyond the eight week program if you wish).

Our children’s earliest formal learning years are the building blocks for meeting the reading and writing expectations set by NESA. Sadly, the current health situation means that some kids may be falling behind and struggling with their literacy and phonemic awareness.

When a child does not make adequate progress to keep up with expected benchmarks they become discourages and disengaged. This program is designed to determine where each child’s understandings sits within a given sequence of phonemic awareness.

We begin with an individual assessment followed by eight one-on-one lessons that your kids can enjoy, online, in the comfort of your home.

Program Outline

Initial Assessment

Initially a thorough 1 hour assessment to design a program specific to your child’s level of understanding will be undertaken.

COST: $100 accompanied by a written report and 30 minute telephone conversation to evaluate the report.

Customised Program

Above all, we recognise that each child learns at a different pace.

Following the assessment, we tailor a series of 8 X45 minute lessons that focusing on set, individual goals.

We look at how each child recognises individual sounds and can manipulate them into spoken words when reading and writing. Examples include: segmenting words into syllables, rhyming words and identifying patterns in words, alliteration, beat, and developing an accurate understanding for patterns in spelling words. More advanced work introduces silent letters and concepts such as homophones.

COST: $550

Homework

While identifying each child’s individual needs, the program will aim to fill gaps in their learning to prevent the notion of “learning helplessness”. When a child does not make adequate progress to keep up with expected benchmarks they become discourages and disengaged.
